IMAGES Photographer of the Year 2006/2007

The Photographer of the Year competition was introduced in the 2005/2006 Club Year by our previous Chairman, Neal McClimon, and proved to be a huge success. The competition is now in its second year. Please ensure you read the rules carefully to avoid disqualification!

The following information is to inform you of the themes, when they are, how photos should be presented, and how the winner is decided.

Competition Rules

You may enter one or two photos per round. To take part in this competition, you do not need to enter every round. It is possible to win by entering just two of the rounds. Of course it maximises your chances if you enter every round!

Prints from negatives, slides or digital images must be presented in a passepartout or mounted on card as detailed below:

Enlargement Size: 20cm x 30 cm or larger (cropped to a minimum of 18cm x 18cm)
Passepartout Size: any size (mounting on card is also possible)
Passepartout Colour: any colour

This is so all entries can be handled and numbered without damage. Please remember to write your name on the back of your passepartout as this will save time after judging.

IMPORTANT: Photos that are not presented correctly will not be accepted for entry.

If you wish to enter a round of the competition but you are unable to attend that specific night, you can either bring your photos to an earlier meeting so someone can store them away, or ask another member to take them for you.

The judging will take place during the breaks of each meeting. Members will be given a score sheet. You have to decide which are your top five photos and then give them scores ranging from 1 – 5. A score of 5 indicates your chosen favourite. You may not vote for your own photos. If you do and are caught, you will be disqualified. After judging, a member of the Committee will add up the scores.

Points for top 5 photos are: First = 10 Points
  Second = 8 Points
  Third = 6 Points
  Fourth = 4 Points
  Fifth = 2 Points

If you enter two photos and they are both voted into the top five in one round, the combined score will be added to your final end of year total. After each round, a results table will appear in the following Newsletter. Results of the last two rounds will be kept by the Committee. This means that when the winner is announced at the AGM, there could be a surprise winner!!

There will be prizes for the top three people at the end of the competition. The overall winner will receive the first IMAGES Photographer of the Year trophy!

Wishing you all much success with the competition. GOOD LUCK!
